The UF/IFAS Dean for Research office supports scientific curiosity among College of Agricultural and Life Sciences undergraduate students. Over 70 students participate a paid research internship program every year, partaking in projects ranging from surveying sea turtle nests to improving golf course sustainability.
As research interns, these students have the chance to develop their research skills and expand their professional network. Interns develop a relationship with their faculty mentor, participate in the discovery of new knowledge, and create lasting impacts for local and global communities. The experience these interns receive not only bolsters their resume, but also introduces them to career options in academia, industry, and non-governmental organizations.
Previous interns have glowing reviews about their experiences and their successes after the program. Interns have co-authored publications, landed graduate school or other research lab positions, and discovered a passion for an area of science they never knew existed.
Funding for this program comes from the UF/IFAS Dean for Research office, but anyone can help support the Path to Pioneers Initiative and provide more internship opportunities to even more students.
