Mr. Jonael (Jona) Bosques is the UF/IFAS Extension Agriculture Agent and County Extension Director for Hardee County since February 2016. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Bosques served as the Small Farms Agent at the UF/IFAS Extension office in Marion County where he spent 4 years. Jona holds BS and MS degrees in Animal Science and Molecular Genetics, specialized in beef cattle production. Before working in Florida, Mr. Bosques worked for the Cooperative Extension Service in Georgia for nearly five years as a Livestock Agent, Agriculture agent and County Extension Coordinator. He is trained in many areas of agriculture ranging from livestock and forage production to integrated pest management, to vegetable crop production. Mr. Bosques is an active member of the UF/IFAS Central Florida Livestock Agents Group (CFLAG) and for the last seven years where he has facilitated and provided trainings, workshops and demonstrations for youth, farmers, farmworkers and homeowners to increase their understanding of agriculture and natural resources in Florida. Mr. Bosques has received five awards from the Florida Association of County Agriculture Agents and the National Association of County Agriculture Agents, four of which have been in the category of Search for Excellence and one Achievement Award recognizing his work with farmers and ranchers in Florida and Georgia. He currently invests a great amount of time producing educational videos on social media through the UF/IFAS CAFÉ Latino platform, with the goal of educating audiences (both in English and Spanish) on science facts and good agricultural practices employed by Florida farmers and ranchers.
