Our very own James Stevenson, Extension Specialist, is hosting this class to teach you how to properly and confidently identify the plants of Central Florida. Why? To learn what is potentially harmful, edible, invasive, landscape-worthy, or just to satisfy a natural curiosity. UF/IFAS Pinellas County Extension will offer an Advanced Plant Identification course in the New Year. The classes will be held every other Saturday starting February 14, 2015. The course consists of 6, 2-hour classes for a total of 12 hours of intensive instruction. Past participants have included Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, professional landscapers and the naturally curious; all of whom love the outdoors and making new discoveries. The classes are very informal and proceed at a pace determined by the participants. Except for the first class on February 14, each class will include hands-on and outdoor components. The $30 registration fee includes all course materials and a copy of H. D. Harrington’s book How to Identify Plants. Class size is limited, so register soon!
