Warning: Cockroaches Seeking Warmth

After the recent cool weather in Florida, you may notice new visitors seeking the warmth of your home. Sometimes mistaken as “water bugs”, Florida is home to several species of cockroaches that are common nuisance pests. Have you seen any of these bugs running across the kitchen floor? Most cockroaches are controlled with over-the-counter household sprays. For persistent infestations, contact your local extension office for pest control recommendations, or read this cockroach management publication (Koehler et al. 1994) for more information.
