Poinsettias in October
Poinsettias in October? Yes! It’s time to order your beautiful, direct from the nursery, floral-quality poinsettias for the festive winter holidays. Our selling season is earlier this year to ensure that the nursery has ample supply to meet our needs.
Our 4-H clubs will be taking pre-orders for small, medium, and large potted red poinsettias as well as medium pink and white. We will also be offering one of our most popular products, the twelve inch poinsettia/chrysanthemum bowl. These “mum bowls” make beautiful gifts for the holidays and of course, you will want to order one for yourself!
Placing an order
There are two ways to place your pre-order. The first is through a 4-H community club. If you know a 4-H family in your community, check in with them first. The 4-H clubs earn funds for their club program from the sales. If you visit the Conway Community Market this month, you may find a 4-H club taking pre-orders there. A second option is to order directly through Eventbrite and pay by credit or debit. This link will take you to our event where you can order and see photos of the products available. Finally, you are always welcome to place your order at the Extension Center and pay by cash or check in person.
Supporting 4-H Youth Development
The funds raised from the poinsettias support both our club and county-wide programs. Each year, the Orange County 4-H Association provides thousands of dollars in scholarships, achievement awards, and travel support to our youth members. 4-H clubs use the funds raised to support their educational programs, pay entry fees, travel to 4-H competitions, and provide recognition to their club members.
