2014 America Saves Financial Challenge Begins

By this time of year, many people find that their New Year’s resolutions and plan have not worked! If you were attempting to make some financial changes, there is great news! It is not too late to develop positive financial habits. The America Saves Financial Challenge begins Feb. 23 as part of the celebration of America Saves Week (Feb. 24-March 1st). Whether you are in great financial shape or desperately trying to manage your money, the Financial Challenge will help! All of us need some gentle reminders to practice good money habits. Plus there are cash prizes to help you get motivated!

The 2014 America Saves Financial Challenge is a free five-week program beginning Sunday, February 23-Saturday March 29th that is completed on-line, in cooperation with Rutgers Extension Service. The America Saves Financial Challenge helps you practice ten daily financial challenge habits. Each time you do the financial action, points are awarded. The ten daily financial management practices include personal actions such as tracking money spent and completing an online personal finance calculation or financial quiz. Paper tracking forms can be downloaded http://goo.gl/7lGIyO to keep track of daily activities until they are entered online. Participants can compare their daily and weekly progress. There will be weekly and grand cash prizes awarded.

“Participating in the Financial Challenge helps remind us of the importance of little things we do each day. I encourage you to TAKE THE CHALLENGE and develop positive financial actions such as saving money and learning more about financial topics,” says Elaine Courtney, UF/IFAS Extension faculty in Okaloosa County.

To participate and register in the America Saves Financial Challenge, visit http://goo.gl/Lsqb7A , the Rutgers Small Steps to Health & Wealth site. You will need to create an account, and enroll in the “2014 America Saves Challenge.” Registration deadline is March 2nd.
Doing even one of the ten recommended daily financial practices is a great way to get started on the path to increased personal wealth and financial security. For more information, contact Elaine Courtney (850-683-8431 or ecourtne@ufl.edu or visit http://goo.gl/dD00q6
