The open house will be at NCBS, 552 First St. in Cedar Key, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. This year marks the return of the open house, which was cancelled in 2024 due to hurricane impacts.

Visitors can view research updates with scientists, interactive booths, touch tanks with aquatic animals, a scavenger hunt, family-friendly games and a plethora of information.

“The NCBS open house is a chance for us to interact with the public and our neighbors in Cedar Key, and show our year-round work to improve and protect our natural resources,” said NCBS Director Mike Allen.

The event is free and open to all. Guest booths will be on site from many UF departments, the UF Whitney Laboratory for Marine Sciences and the Florida State University Marine Lab, as well as many state agencies.
