Florida 4-H to induct Henry Grant of Gadsden County to Hall of Fame

Florida 4-H is proud to announce the induction of Henry Grant, Ph.D., to the Florida 4-H Hall of Fame.

Grant’s pioneering efforts profoundly impacted the 4-H community in Gadsden and surrounding counties. Grant’s visionary leadership laid a solid foundation for youth development programs that continue to thrive today. During his tenure as UF/IFAS Gadsden County Extension Director, Grant’s leadership set a high standard for professionalism and community service in Extension. As an Emeritus Extension agent, Grant remains a steadfast ally, actively contributing to 4-H and Extension programming. He began his career with a dual appointment at UF/IFAS and FAMU.

The late Yolanda Goode, a former 4-H agent in Gadsden County, shared in her nomination letter, “Henry was very supportive to of giving Gadsden 4-H youth engagement avenues beyond the county.”

Grant continues to serve on the board for the West Florida Livestock Association, nurturing opportunities for local youth to exhibit market animals and hosts youth on his farm.

Grant’s advocacy efforts led to significant improvements in facilities, including a new state-of-the-art Extension facility. His ongoing work to advocate for the remodeling of the Inman Agriculture and Crops Pavilion underscores his commitment to the continued growth and success of Extension and 4-H programs.

Florida 4-H Hall of Fame induction will be held Aug. 1 at the University of Florida J. Wayne Reitz Union in Gainesville. For more information or to attend, please see the event website, FL4HHOF24.eventbrite.com.
