GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Paul Willis, executive assistant to Jimmy Cheek, the University of Florida’s senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources, has been honored for his long-term service to the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association.

Willis was presented with the Founders Distinguished Service Award at the NAADA annual conference June 14-17 in Kona, Hawaii. The award recognizes an individual who has made substantial contributions to the association.

Willis is very deserving of the award, Cheek said, because he has dedicated himself to making NAADA a better organization.

“I congratulate him for his accomplishments,” Cheek said. “I work with him closely every day, so I know firsthand just how dedicated and capable he is.”

Willis has been Cheek’s executive assistant since February 2006.

A member of NAADA’s board of directors since 1997, Willis has also held numerous other leadership positions with the association, including president, vice president, treasurer, chairman of finance administration and a previous stint as conference chairman. In 2000 he won the NAADA Professional Achievement Award for personal career accomplishments.

Willis has worked for IFAS since 1983, the year he graduated from UF’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences with a bachelor of science degree.

NAADA is dedicated to the professional advancement of personnel working in the alumni affairs, student affairs and development sectors of the nation’s agricultural colleges.
