GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Paul Willis, former director of student and alumni services in the University of Florida’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, has been named executive assistant to Jimmy Cheek, senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the university.
Willis will assume the position held by Donna Stall, who is retiring after 38 years of service to UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, or UF/IFAS. Willis is currently director of academic support services in the food and resource economics department. His new appointment becomes effective in April.
The executive assistant serves as a senior administrative staff member in UF/IFAS and reports directly to Cheek. The position, which has a broad and complex set of assignments, includes working with the vice president to develop, implement and manage operations in the office; serving as liaison and communicating with IFAS deans, department chairs, center directors, extension directors and other key UF officials.
Willis has been with UF/IFAS since graduating with a degree in food and resource economics in 1983. His previous experience also includes working as a computer programmer for the food and resource economics department and serving as a computer consultant for agribusinesses and international universities. He has also been co-owner of a computer consulting business.
Willis and his wife live in High Springs. They have one daughter.
