We want to send a big thank you to everyone who participated in the 2018 Water-Wise Landscape Program and helped make it a success!
The Manatee County Water-Wise Landscape Awards, sponsored by Manatee County Utilities – Water Conservation Division, recognizes individuals and businesses committed to conserving water resources and protecting the environment by using water-conserving practices and Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles.
Entries were given points in areas including retention of existing trees and vegetation, landscape design and plant selection, stormwater runoff prevention, efficient irrigation and overall aesthetic appeal. Winning landscapes balance attractive design with plants, landscape elements and water efficient irrigation techniques that have a positive impact on our environment
This year’s winner, Norma Kisdia, does not have an irrigation system in her gardens or turf. Norma utilizes her rain barrels in drought time to water her numerous butterfly plants. Norma’s garden has Florida-friendly plants arranged in an aesthetically pleasing design. Paths lead you to more color and butterfly attractors.
