The employee will conduct and assist with laboratory experiments, ensuring execution aligns with biogeochemistry research goals at the University of Florida- Tropical Research and Education Center in Homestead, Florida. Duties will include organizing and leading the collection of plant, gas, water, and sediment samples from rivers, lakes, estuaries, and coastal areas. as well as wetlands and analyzing samples for nutrients, chlorophyll, plant, and algal biomass, stable isotopes, and dissolved gasses. The employee is also responsible for running and maintaining instrumentation (e.g., MIMS, spectrophotometer). Other responsibilities include general lab maintenance, including ordering supplies, inventory, and compliance with health and safety protocols, assisting students, and visiting scientists with lab and field experiments. Duties may entail supporting extension programs (workshops, field trips and public outreach events) related to coastal resilience. Driving for overnight and day trips is required. This dietitian position is based in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department (FSHN) and will provide nutrition services to the patients of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases (FIND) at UF Health. FIND is committed to providing exemplary care for people with neurological diseases and disorders, while being a leader in conducting novel clinical research. The dietitian will provide services which include assessing the nutrition status of patients and providing medical nutrition therapy, providing nutrition education, and monitoring patients to achieve nutrition goals. The dietitian collaborates with the faculty and staff of FIND who refer patients to this dietitian and assists in implementing nutrition interventions. The dietitian also serves as a community educator, presenting at conferences, symposiums, support groups, etc. to inform community members of the impact food and diet can have on neurological health.

As a Research Administrator in The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), you are expected to provide comprehensive research administration to a portfolio of faculty/principal investigators (PIs) in various units to ensure the overall effective coordination of research administration services, systems, policies, processes, and compliance.

Position will provide lifecycle pre & post-award research administration ensuring the fulfillment of all grant and/or contract and compliance requirements. Major duties include proposal development, review, submission, and management of research-related agreements, and award management, including effort, expenditures, modifications, and closeouts, in addition to regularly communicating with the projects’ sponsors.

Working from a remote location is possible. The RA II is a mid-level position with some prior experience in research administration, who 1) applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity, 2) exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action, and 3) works independently with general supervision.
