Urban Agriculture is part of a local food system where food is produced within an urban area and marketed to consumers within that area. According to U.S. EPA, urban agriculture can contribute to the revitalization of abandoned or underutilized urban land. In addition, urban agriculture can bring social and economic benefits to urban communities, and beneficial impacts on the urban landscape.
Water Wednesdays in December will focus on Urban Agriculture. We will discuss the potential benefits and downsides of urban agriculture for community food systems, and what we can do to support urban agriculture.
