Valeria Yon is the Water Resources Program Specialist for UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability in Sarasota County. A passionate advocate for Florida's ecosystems, she previously served 30 state parks with the Florida Park Service through AmeriCorps, including Silver Springs and Wekiwa Springs. Her current work focuses on water conservation and water protection through educational programs on Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, proper disposal of FOG (fats, oils, and grease), and Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) classes. As an FNGLA certified irrigation technician and Water Star Accredited Professional, she also conducts free irrigation evaluations for residents. She also hosts clothing swaps every other month at Twin Lakes Park!
