Participants will learn how HLB-tolerant varieties perform in the home landscape and how they offer new possibilities for backyard citrus production. These improved selections are being developed to better withstand citrus greening while still producing flavorful fruit. Featured varieties include:
Sweet Oranges
- US SunDragon- crisp and mildly sweet with low acidity
- UF 1859- deep orange color and excellent for juice or fresh eating
Mandarins and Hybrids
- Tango®- with a rich, sweet flavor and easy-to-peel fruit
- UF 13-51- with exceptional flavor and aroma
- Sugar Belle®- with a sweet-tangy taste and high vitamin C
- Satsuma Brown Select- with a mild flavor and low-seeded fruit
Lime and Lemon
- UF Lime ‘Fiestaville’®- highly aromatic and very juicy with a strong lime fragrance

In addition to variety selection, the workshop covers essential care practices including proper planting, fertilization, pruning, irrigation, and pest management to help trees stay healthy and productive in Florida conditions. Emphasis will also be placed on realistic expectations and long term success in the home landscape.
