Temperatures will soon be cooling down and some of our winter weeds will begin germinating. If weeds such as Annual bluegrass, chickweed, or henbit have been problems in the lawn in previous years, consider applying a pre emergent herbicide when our nighttime temps reach 55-65 degrees F for about a week. You may choose a product with the active ingredient dithiopyr or pendamethalin. Be sure to read label directions and only apply a very light watering after application. Too much water can move the product below the level of germinating seeds.
