EFNEP Families Save $1,028.40 a Year!

What is EFNEP? EFNEP is the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program sponsored by UF/IFAS Extension in Escambia County.

Adult EFNEP participants learn to:

EFNEP – Buy Better, Eat Better
  • Buy and prepare healthier foods for their families.
  • Save money at the grocery store.
  • Be active.
  • Keep food safe.

Who can attend? Groups of individuals with children who are eligible for assistance programs, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps), WIC, Head Start, or have children who get free or reduced price lunch.

Participants share ideas, prepare healthy snacks, relax, get up and move, and have fun.

Last year EFNEP participants

  • Reduced their daily calories from solid fats and added sugars by 93 calories per day.
  • Reduced sodium intake.
  • Increased intake of Fruits and Vegetables
  • Saved, on average, $85.70 per month – or more than $1,000 year!
