When did you start working at CREC?
I started working at CREC on July 26, 2012.
What are your responsibilities at CREC?
I am the Information Technology (IT) manager responsible for network infrastructure, telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, and support for UF software. I am also responsible for implementation of UF/IFAS IT policies, desktop support & troubleshooting. I also make sure that the correct IT equipment is purchased by our faculty and staff.
What are you really proud about working at CREC?
I am proud to work at CREC because of the dedicated team of scientists perusing common goals to keep the citrus industry from becoming extinct. We are giving hope to the world.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is solving very difficult problems that happen in our IT field. I get satisfaction when I help solve that problem for our faculty and staff, so they continue with their important research.
Who is your favorite superhero?
Superman.
What is your favorite type of citrus?
Tangerine.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Colombia, South America
What is your favorite thing to cook/eat?
I cook a mean New York strip and love eating a good spaghetti dinner.
If you could invite three people to share a meal with, who would it be (other than family)?
I would invite Jorge Hernandez, an excellent coworker, Bill Black from South District support, and Rafael Tovar, an old cycling buddy
What is your favorite song or recording artist?
I would say Africa by Toto — I am a big fan of 80’s music.
Do you have a favorite movie? Book?
My favorite movie is Back to the Future and a favorite book is Extreme Money Make Over by Dave Ramsay.
