Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island, Marco Island, FL

Is an association whose members study horticulture in our subtropical environment, floral design, and environmental responsibility.  The club members established and maintained gardens in public parks: a bromeliad and orchid  garden in Leigh Plummer Park and a butterfly and pollinator garden in Calusa Park.  They also established and maintained plantings around historical markers on the island, and donated and maintain a Blue Star Memorial that commemorates our U.S. men and women who served in the armed forces.  At the Naples Yard and Garden Show, Calusa Garden Club is selling its Gardening Guide written and produced by its members; it is filled with instructions on gardening on a month-by- month basis in our subtropical environment.  The Gardening Guide is waterproof and makes an excellent gift for both new gardeners and experienced gardeners.

Go Forest Bathing

Forest Bathing is a slow, guided sensory experience with nature that has proven physical and mental health benefits. Also known as Shinrin-yoku, the practice was established in Japan in 1982.  While a typical forest bathing experience is almost three hours, Blue Zones Project – SWFL is sponsoring this free 1-hour program to introduce the wellness practice to people interested in slowing down, relaxing, and reconnecting with nature and themselves.
