Emma Van Gheem is the Program Assistant for Charlotte County with the Florida Sea Grant program, where she supports community outreach, environmental education, and coastal resource conservation initiatives. Originally from Wisconsin, she moved to Florida to pursue her passion for marine biology and conservation, gaining early experience through an internship at the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium. Emma holds a degree in Veterinary Technology and has worked in both veterinary medicine and environmental education. Her diverse background helps her to promote the sustainable use and stewardship of Florida’s marine and coastal ecosystems.
