We’re excited to introduce Lynsey Occenac, our new 4-H Education Training Specialist/Program Assistant! She comes to Broward County 4-H with a wealth of knowledge and experience as a Nutrition Educator with the UF/IFAS Family Nutrition Program—our sister program dedicated to helping Florida communities make healthy food choices and lead active lifestyles.
In her new role, Lynsey will be supporting 4-H programs across Broward County, helping us deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences for youth, families, and community partners. Her background in nutrition education, combined with her passion for youth development, will be a huge asset as we continue to grow our programs in healthy living, STEM education, leadership, and citizenship.
We’re thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside her and know our 4-H members and families will enjoy getting to know her as much as we have.
A message from Lynsey:
Hello everyone, as previously introduced, my name is Lynsey Occenac.
Most recently, I’ve served as the Nutrition Educator at our Broward County Extension Office for the Family Nutrition Program, providing the youth in our community in various settings with information that hopefully helped them make healthier decisions. Conducting interactive class-based cooking sessions and fun hands-on activities to make learning fun! Through this position, I gained experience in meeting the demands of different program directors and adapting content from different curricula to distinct young populations. In the past few years, I’ve worn multiple hats, including those of Tutor/Mentor/Teacher, providing academic support to youth for several organizations, which has enabled me to develop essential teaching, patience, and classroom management skills. Fostering collaboration, flexibility, understanding, and compassion in a variety of roles at two organizations as a healthcare paraprofessional. Additionally, I have excellent experience volunteering for a variety of youth-focused projects. These experiences aided in the development of other skills as well, which I believe will be beneficial as I assume the role of 4-H Education Training Specialist/Program Assistant.
I am so excited to be joining the 4-H Community! I am most thrilled about giving back since I was surrounded by a beautiful group of individuals who believed in me and want to pay it forward. I would love to serve as a helping hand with all the excellent work that you all have been doing to the best of my ability. Learn more about each of your clubs, which have so many focuses. Finally, I am prepared to grow with every new obstacle we’ll collaborate to conquer since “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”!
A few fun facts about me are that I have a younger sister who is dear to my heart, and we are close. I love spending time with my family and friends, and I’m working to make sure we spend as much time together as possible. I love to bake cupcakes and want to explore different flavors and other types of desserts. I enjoy time at the pool or beach – still working on the swimming part. I’ve been dabbling in painting, and I find it is a nice stress reliever. I also love to sing, randomly coming up with tunes about something I am doing when I’m in an extra good mood.
Looking forward to learning about and collaborating with you all
