4-H Market Poultry Project

Deadline to register is August 16

Learn how to raise chickens, improve your showmanship, participate in our year-end auction, and more! 4-H members will raise their own Buff Orpingtons and take classes to help prepare them for the 4-H Fair and Auction. Classes are open to Market and Purebred Poultry project participants.

Green Industries Best Management Practices Workshop

August 7 | 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMPs) is an educational program for people working in lawn-care and landscape maintenance. The GI-BMP program teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help preserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters.

Med Instead of Meds Nutrition Program

August 8 – September 12 | 2 pm – 4 pm & 6 pm – 8 pm

Are you interested in eating healthier? Then consider joining us for our Med Instead of Meds nutrition class! The Med Instead of Meds program teaches participants how to eat like those who live in the Mediterranean region. This style of eating has been shown to promote health and decrease the risk of many chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease.

Water Bath and Pressure Canning

August 13 | 10 am – 12:30 pm

This hands-on experience will focus on two canning methods, water bath and pressure canning. You will be able to take your food home, so please bring a box with you as the jars will still be hot.

Limited Commercial Landscaping Maintenance Certification Workshop

August 14 | 8:30 am – 5 pm

UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County will be offering an in-person Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM) Training workshop that helps you prepare for the 482 Limited Certification Landscape Maintenance pesticide license certification exam (aka Round-up® license).

Canning: The Pickling Process

August 17 | 10 am – 12 pm

Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest Control Certification Review and Exam

August 21 | 8:30 am – 5 pm

Need an O + T license? If so, this class is for you! NO CEUs available. Strictly review and exam class. Not for current license holders.

Backyard Chicken Training Class

August 21 | 10 am – 12 pm

Learn all about raising and caring for chickens in urban environments! This class is taught virtually in partnership with UF/IFAS Extension Orange County.

4-H Open House

August 24 | 10 am – 1 pm

Join us at our Open House at the Extension Office, 3695 Lake Drive. This is a great time to learn about the different clubs available in Brevard County. Come talk to club leaders and members and learn more about the opportunities available to you.

Brevard County Farmers Market

Every Thursday at the Regional Pavilion inside Wickham Park | 3 pm – 6 pm

Join us at the market to discover a variety of homemade food from local businesses! There are many unique products like grass-fed beef, Fresh from Florida produce, spices, honey, jams, coffee, nut butters, microgreens, edible plants, a variety of baked goods and vegan desserts, olive oil, salsas, and more! We also participate in the Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) token program! This program allows SNAP recipients to buy fresh produce and other goodies with their food stamp benefits.
