4-H Summer Camps for June & July

*You do not need to be enrolled in 4-H prior to registering.  All summer camps are daily camps, please ensure that your child can be dropped off and picked up on time.*

Beginning Sewing

June 10 – 14 | 9 am – 12 pm

Learn the joy of sewing and making your own clothes or other items! In this camp, youth will learn how to use a sewing machine, sewing terminology, and more. They will also be able to bring home 2-3 projects that they have made at camp!  Sewing machines and materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own machine if you would like.  Youth must be 8 to 14 as of September 1, 2023, to participate.

Rising of the Dough: Science in Cooking

June 17 – 21 | 9 am – 1 pm

Join us and learn about the science behind how some of your favorite foods are made and how ingredients chemically interact to give us the foods we love to eat.  This is a super fun class that is part chemistry and part cooking.  This hands-on class is great for curious kids who love to learn and have an interest in cooking and helping in the kitchen.  Youth must be ages 8 to 13 as of September 1, 2023, to participate.  Due to safety and hygiene concerns, close-toed shoes are required, and hair must be pulled back or under a cap.

Say Cheese! Science the Milky Way

June 17 – 21 | 2 pm – 5 pm

In this camp, you will learn about the chemistry behind how your favorite dairy products are made.  Whether you like a plain glass of milk or prefer Greek yogurt or Mozzarella cheese, join us for a week of afternoon fun in creating delicious foods that start with nature’s perfect food.  Youth must be ages 12 to 18 as of September 1, 2023, to participate.  Due to safety and hygiene concerns, close-toed shoes are required, and hair must be pulled back or under a cap.

Cooking Under Pressure

July 18 | 2 pm – 5 pm

Come discover the skill of preserving your own foods in this pressure canning class designed for 14- to 18-year-olds. Youth will learn the basics of pressure cooking. We’ll start with an appetizer and work our way to dessert. Hair must be pulled back, or in a cap, and closed-toed shoes are required.  Youth must be 14 to 18 years old as of September 1, 2023, to participate.

Adulting Camp Short Course

July 22 – 26 | 9 am – 1 pm

Come join us to learn about college and career prep, budgeting, credit and banking, developing healthy relationships, effective communication, and living with others.  We’ll put it all together in a fun simulation of a month in the life of a 25-year-old.  Participants will leave camp with an increased knowledge of what it’s like to be an adult and a few goodies to help.  Open to youth ages 15-18. Light snacks will be provided.

FMNP – Coastal Shoreline Restoration

June 11 – 22 | Course is full, please contact the instructor to be added to the waitlist

Increase your knowledge and understanding of the importance of natural shorelines and alternatives to seawalls for shoreline protection! This course will cover oyster reed restoration, mangrove restoration, and salt marsh restoration. four evening online class sessions (T/Th) and two Saturday in-person field trip sessions, one each in Volusia and Brevard Counties.

Be Healthy: Grow Your Own Food!

June 17 – July 8 | 10 am – 12 pm & 6 pm – 8 pm

Learn how to grow your own food! We will cover plant propagation, container gardening, pest management, growing vegetable crops, and more.  This class series will be held on four consecutive Mondays with in-person and virtual attendance options.

UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County will be offering an in-person Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM) Training workshop that is needed to apply for the 482 Limited Certification Landscape Maintenance pesticide license certification exam (aka Round-up® license).

Brevard County Farmers Market

Every Thursday at the Regional Pavilion inside Wickham Park | 3 pm – 6 pm

Join us at the market to discover a variety of homemade food from local businesses! There are many unique products like grass-fed beef, Fresh from Florida produce, spices, honey, jams, coffee, nut butters, microgreens, edible plants, a variety of baked goods and vegan desserts, olive oil, salsas, and more! We also participate in the Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) token program! This program allows SNAP recipients to buy fresh produce and other goodies with their food stamp benefits.
