UF Blueberry Breeding Lab Assistant



Job Summary:
                The UF Blueberry Breeding and Genomics Lab is currently seeking highly-motivated students for the positions of field technician and/or lab assistant, to support the Blueberry Breeding Program. These positions will primarily focus on assisting with collecting samples and data at our field trial locations or collecting fruit quality data in the lab.

Job Details:
  • ·         Position Types

o   Seasonal Part Time Field Technician
o   Seasonal Part Time Lab Assistant
  • ·         Compensation – $10.00/hour
  • ·         Expected Time Commitment – 12-20 hours/week


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • ·         Work outside in various weather conditions
  • ·         Be available to work in 6-8 hour shifts
  • ·         Assist with the collection of field samples
  • ·         Operate and maintain a UF truck to and from the field, and throughout campus
  • ·         Load and unload field sample equipment and coolers from the truck bed
  • ·         Collect and document data without error
  • ·         Various fruit quality analysis tasks in the lab
  • ·         Be flexible with sudden changes to schedule

Qualifications:
  • ·         Be able to perform the job responsibilities with a satisfactory proficiency
  • ·         Be a current undergraduate student enrolled at UF
  • ·         Be able to meet the time commitments of this position during the Spring 2019 semester
