Bertha Cornett, widow of William C. Cornett, established an estate plan which provided assets for graduate fellowships in the family name. The Cornetts worked for the Orlando Sentinel. Bertha, who was active in the orchid society, passed away in 1996, surviving her husband by several years.

What is it?
The “William C. and Bertha M. Cornett Fellowship” of $1500 for distribution between fall 2017 and spring 2018 is awarded every year.

Who won?
Of the 1,093 applicants, Yangyang Song was one of 86 graduate students selected to receive a scholarship. In total, CALS awarded $574,875 in scholarships and fellowships to 334 undergraduate students and 86 graduate students. The College received 1,093 applications for CALS scholarships this year.
