The camp was led by Jackson County 4-H volunteer Mrs. Anita Crossley and 4-H Program Assistant Patti Peacock, with assistance from 4-H Agent Angel Granger. The focus of the camp was to make totes or carrying bags from recycled materials, in this case plastic feed sacks. Campers also made purses from squares made with looms, which they sewed together, and enjoyed an educational snack with FCS Agent Marie Arick, to learn the value of calcium in their diet.

At the conclusion of the two-day camp, students indicated that they could demonstrate basic sewing skills and the wise use of resources through recycling. One lucky camper was selected to take home a brand new beginner sewing machine that was donated by the Jackson County 4-H Association.
