Coming up next week is the second installment of our Blueberry Production Workshop. We had a good turnout in Jackson County and are offering it again in Washington County. We still have several seats left so follow the link below to register. CEUs will be available, all attendees will receive a free blueberry plant.

In this workshop we will have several UF and FAMU specialists/agents to cover soil preparation and health, pruning, insects and disease control updates, and we will finish off the morning with updates on blackberries as an emerging fruit crop for the Panhandle.

  • 8:10-8:40                 Speaker #1: Matt Orwat, will cover soil health and pruning on blueberries, variety selection
  • 8:40-9:10                 Speaker #2: Matt Orwat, will cover disease issues for blueberries
  • 9:10-9:45                 Speaker #3: Donna Arnold, will cover insect problems for blueberries
  • BREAK- coffee and snacks
  • 10:00-10:40            Speaker #4: Matt Lollar, will cover irrigation and fertigation on blueberries
  • 10:40-11:00             Speaker #5: Ashley Stonecipher, will cover blackberry varieties
  • 11:00-11:45              Speaker #6: Dr. Shahid, will cover blackberry plant care/ pruning
  • 11:45-12:00             Follow-up, evaluations
