You are invited to come view the 2016-2017 Washington County Cool Season Forage Demonstration. The demo includes 21 forage grass varieties (Oats, Wheat, Rye, Triticale, and Ryegrass). The goal of the demo is to allow producers to observe the differences in the performance of the varieties. All of the varieties were planted side-by-side, on the same day, and have received the same management. Additionally, there has been a weed control demonstration overlaid on the forage demo. Various products, at various rates and times were applied to control winter weeds.
The demo will be open for viewing on Friday, March 24 from 2:00pm – 4:30pm. During this time Extension Personnel will be on site to provide information answer questions. Please do not attempt to access the demonstration outside of the times listed above; it is on private property.
The demo is located at 5809 Douglas Ferry Rd., Carryville, FL 32427 (Approximately 2/3 mile west of the intersection of Douglas Ferry Rd and River Rd in the Hinson Crossroads Community). You are welcome to drive yourself to the demonstration site any time between 2:00pm – 4:30pm on Friday, March 24.
