Panacea 4-H Members Have a Special 4-H Weekend June 7 -9
Eight members of the Panacea 4-H Explorers Club received registration scholarships to attend 4-H Intermediate State Camp Weekend. The annual event is held at Camp Cherry Lake. This statewide event is designed for 4-H youth ages 11 to 13.
Youth selected to represent Wakulla 4-H at this event have set a leadership example in their club with exemplary behavior. Congratulations to Abigail Fort, Uriah Hicks, Thailyn Honeybone, Isabella Laughton, Mikaela Miller, Dorothy Palmer, Tracen Rueth, and Makenna Trumbull.
All 4-H scholarships are made possible through the generosity of community donors who support our positive youth development programs.
A Weekend Full of Hands-On Learning
During the weekend, youth choose from a variety of activities. This year, all the participants take part in the Living on My Own (LOMO) program. During the interactive financial management experience, each youth is assigned a job, salary, budget and more. The activity includes “life” situations such as “how to purchase” a house or car or pay for college.
Hours of 4-H Fun
Another exciting addition to this year’s Intermediate State Weekend is a color powder field game. Participants wear clothes that will be dusted with color powder during the activity.
Youth also enjoy a campfire, a dance, and a 4-H events sampler fair. The weekend includes two “fun-shop” choices: 4-H line dance, painting, culinary arts, kayaking, or shooting sports.
