Agriculture Bill

Ag and GovState Preemption/Agriculture – HB 1197 by Rep. Mike Horner: was passed out of the House Ag and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee. This bill gives the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services exclusive authority to regulate beekeeping, apiaries and their locations. It also includes language exempting farm signs from the Florida Building Code and any county or municipal code or fee. Its companion bill, SB 1132 by Sen. Alan Hays, was passed out of the Senate Budget Subcommittee on General Government Appropriations. The Senate bill was amended to include language regarding farm signs.
