Summer is approaching fast, and school will be out soon! Parents, are you looking for summer activities for your youth members? Sumter County 4-H is offering 5 weeks of summer day camps! Spaces are limited so register early! Registration information can be found at the end!
4-H Summer Camp Offerings
There are three weeks for kids ages 14 – 18 years old as of September 1st, 2021
Week 1: June 6th – 9th will be Professional Development Camp
During this camp, we will be learning critical skills for your professional development, including communication skills (e-mail, texting, letter writing, etc.), resume writing, and interview skills! The cost for this camp is $15.
Week 3: June 28th – 30th will be Leadership Camp
This is a great camp for club officers (all clubs, including FFA!) as well as other youth interested in building their leadership skills! We will learn about opportunities for leadership in 4-H, how to work together effectively as a team, and what it means to be a servant leader. The cost for this camp is $15.
Week 4: July 11th – 15th will be Sumter County AG Industry and Career Tour
During this camp, we will explore local, Sumter County agricultural enterprises and other professionals who keep Sumter’s agricultural industry going. Each morning, we will take a field trip to a local ag production facility to visit with producers and learn about their business as well as local career opportunities in the business. After lunch each day, we will visit with a local agribusiness professional to learn more about career opportunities in the agribusiness sector. The cost each week varies from camp to camp. The cost for this camp is $40.

During this camp we will be able to learn about healthy eating habits, easy physical activities, mindfulness, and much more! The cost for this camp is $10.
Week 3: June 28th – 30th will be Leadership Camp

Week 5: August 1st – 5th will be Growing & Eating Around the World Camp.
During this camp youth will be learning about diverse types of food that can be grown around the world and have some hands-on cooking with diverse types of dishes around the world. What they cook will be their lunch! The cost for this camp is $40.
There will be two weeks for kids ages 8-10 years old as of September 1st, 2021
Week 2: June 13th – 16th will be Healthy Living Camp.

Week 4: July 11th – 15th will be Sumter Sprouts Summer Camp
During this camp, youth will learn more about flowers, fruits & nuts, vegetables & herbs and much more! The cost for this camp is $30.

For the most adventurous campers who really want to get away from home, the Florida 4-H Program is hosting week-long residential camping opportunities all summer at Camp Cloverleaf and Camp Timpoochee. You can visit Camps – Florida 4-H – University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences – UF/IFAS (ufl.edu) for information. Scholarships are available for families that are unable to pay the full cost of camp.
