Register for Summer Day Camp

Summer is around the corner and that means summer day camp registration is open.  St. Johns County 4-H is offering 13 different summer day camps.  They are taught by 4-H agents and volunteer club leaders.  The volunteer club leaders share their expertise with the hope campers will turn into 4-H club members in the fall.

Science-focused Day Camps

There are several science-focused camps.  The Science is Fun 4-H Camp provides campers the opportunity to learn the scientific method through hands-on experiments.  Food Science Molecular Gastronomy 4-H Camp gives youth the chance to “eat their experiments”!  In the Amazing Amphibians 4-H Camp, campers learn about frog habitat and characteristics, Florida frog species, and conservation.  The Fit-4-Life 4-H Camp teaches campers about wellness through engaging activities in the areas of food, fitness, finances, and mindfulness.  The Animal Science 4-H Camp will teach campers about livestock and production animals and their anatomy, nutrition, breeds, and environments.  In addition to indoor learning and crafts, campers will go on a field trip to a local ranch to see the animals up close.

Environmental Science-focused Day Camps

Day campers show off their accurate shots.

This year, St. Johns County 4-H is offering two archery camps.  The popular Intro to Archery 4-H Camp will teach campers the basics of shooting safely. The camp is a prerequisite for the Toxophily Archery club.  In the Advanced Archery 4-H Camp, campers who completed the Intro to Archery day camp will dive deeper into more advanced archery topics.

The specially designed Bugs and Blooms Cloverbud 4-H Camp is for youth ages 5-7 and will teach campers about the plants and insects around them.

There are also two more environmental science camps that spend more time outside than inside.  The Aquatic Adventures 4-H Camp is being offered in a partnership with Orange County 4-H.  Three of the five days are field trips to aquatic locations between here and Orlando.   Stokes Landing Conservation Area Exploration 4-H Camp will be held in the Stokes Landing Conservation Area and focuses on citizen science initiatives and healthy foods.

Creative Arts Day Camps

Campers will get the chance to be creative with these camps.  The Enchanted Garden Adventures 4-H Camp offers campers an experience of art in the garden.  Quilting 4-H Camp offers campers the chance to enter the world of quilting by making their own quilt.  For youth interested in performing arts and drawing, Outside the Lines 4-H Camp is for them.  They will also take a field trip to an art museum.

Summer Day Camps for Everyone

With so many choices, it may be difficult to decide.  The summer day camps are between one and five days long.  The cost of camps range from $23 to $200.  Camps are open to all youth ages 5-18.   Check out the summer day camp list for detailed descriptions of each camp, dates/times, cost, and location.  We hope you choose to spend some of your summer with us!
