Demonstrations and Illustrated Talks Workshop
There will be a general “how-to” do a 4-H Demonstration / Illustrated Talks workshop for youth and parents to learn the proper techniques in capturing the audience’s attention and effectively delivering your 4-H Demonstration/Illustrated Talk. This workshop will take place at the Extension Office on Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00pm. RSVP to Ms. Kellie (kcanderson@sjcfl.us) or 209-0430 at the 4-H Office by February 20th if you plan to attend. There is a minimum number of participants required for workshop to take place so you must register!
4-H Demonstrations/Illustrated Talks Contest will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 6:00pm at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center.
Every 4-H’er is encouraged to do at least one project demonstration or illustrated talk during the 4-H year. A demonstration is an oral and visual presentation showing others how to perform a new skill. 4-H’ers use posters and other visuals to demonstrate or perform an operation, explaining the process as they go, then answer questions posed by judges. An illustrated talk is a presentation that explains topic using visual aid such as posters and PowerPoint. 4-H’ers can do an individual or team demonstration or illustrated talk in any project area they choose, such as animal science, plant science, career exploration, environmental education, food and nutrition, clothing and textiles, etc.
Demonstrations and illustrated talks by Juniors and Intermediates should be no less than 3 minutes, no more than 12 minutes.
Demonstrations and illustrated talks for Seniors should be no less than 5 minutes and no more than 12 minutes.
Demonstration and Illustrated Talks titles are due to Ms. Kellie by March 16th.
