Seminole County Adventures in Agriculture with Your Paper Farmer

What is the idea?

The average person is far removed from how their food gets from the farm to their plate. However, we have learned there are lots of ways to get connected with local agriculture, especially here in Seminole County. This might be visiting a farm, participating in agritourism activities, buying local produce or more. Seminole County has a rich agricultural history with many local farms still thriving today.

Many of our Florida farmers are approaching retirement age. The United States Department of Agriculture says there are many opportunities for youth to pursue careers in agriculture. In recently years, agriculture is not as commonly taught in schools. It is still important that youth (and adults!) learn where their food comes from. We also need youth to take over the important agriculture jobs in the future.

For this reason, we are trying to bring more attention to our local agriculture using our paper farmers. We are encouraging farmers, educators, students, friends of ag and others to bring a paper farmer on their next agriculture adventure in support of #SeminoleCountyAg. We want to see all the ways that you connect with agriculture, from being out on the farm to visiting a local farmers market.
