National Agriculture Week in Seminole County
This week, March 16-22, 2025, is National Agriculture Week in Seminole County and beyond. This is a week-long celebration of the agriculture industry’s role in our daily lives. Farmers play a role in growing food, fiber, and fuel, not to mention the ecosystem services and the jobs that farms provide to the local community. This annual celebration, typically held in March, is an opportunity to appreciate farmers, ranchers, and all those working within the agricultural industry who ensure we have a safe, abundant, and affordable food supply.
Florida is home to over 47,000 farms and ranches, with close to 320 of those operations in Seminole County. Celebrate National Agriculture Week in Seminole County by visiting a local farm or farmer’s market. You can find a list of some of our Seminole County farms and farmers markets by visiting our 2025 Guide.
Agriculture’s Role in Sustainability
Beyond providing food, agriculture plays a crucial role in sustainability and environmental conservation. Farmers and researchers are constantly finding ways to improve soil health, conserve water, and reduce carbon footprints. From regenerative farming to integrated pest management, these practices help ensure that agriculture is able to continue to feed future generations while protecting our natural resources.
Ways to Celebrate and Get Involved
There are many ways to participate in National Ag Week, whether you are directly involved in agriculture or simply want to show your support. Here are a few ideas:
- Support Local Farmers – Visit a farmers’ market or shop locally sourced products to support small-scale farmers and sustainable agriculture.
- Learn More About Agriculture – Take time to explore how different foods are grown, the role of pollinators, and how technology is shaping modern farming.
- Engage on Social Media – Share posts, photos, or facts about agriculture using hashtags like #NationalAgWeek to spread awareness.
- Attend Agricultural Events – Many communities host farm tours, educational workshops, or virtual events to celebrate agriculture.
- Thank a Farmer – A simple “thank you” to a farmer, rancher, or agricultural worker can go a long way in recognizing their hard work and dedication.
2025 Virtual Farm Tour
The Seminole County Farm Tour has been a long held tradition, hosted for over 20 years. Over the years, the tour has been hosted in many different forms from self-driving to tour busses and even online. This year, we are hosting the tour for the second time in this virtual format. A virtual tour opens the doors for more folks, allowing people from anywhere to participate without the need for travel. Through farmer interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and interactive storytelling, these Virtual Farm Tour videos aim to make agriculture more accessible and educational for everyone.
