2025 Virtual Farm Tour Day 3: Local produce and seasonal veggies

2025 Virtual Farm Tour Day 3

Virtual Farm Tour Day 3: Farmer Rob’s Vegetables

Florida is one of the top vegetable-producing states in the U.S., supplying fresh produce year-round thanks to its warm climate. From tomatoes and peppers to leafy greens, Florida farmers grow over 200 different crops, making the state a key player in the nation’s food supply!

Why eat local seasonable vegetables?

A lot can go wrong when growing plants or raising livestock, and farmers face many challenges along the way. Unpredictable weather, pests, and plant diseases can threaten crops, while rising costs for seeds, equipment, and labor make farming more expensive. Access to clean water and maintaining healthy soil are also key concerns, especially with changing climate conditions. On top of that, farmers must navigate shifting market prices and follow strict regulations to ensure food safety and environmental sustainability. Despite these obstacles, they continue to adapt, using innovative techniques to keep our food supply strong and sustainable.

2025 Virtual Farm Tour

The Seminole County Farm Tour has been a long held tradition, hosted for over 20 years. Over the years, the tour has been hosted in many different forms from self-driving to tour busses and even online. This year, we are hosting the tour for the second time in this virtual format. A virtual tour opens the doors for more folks, allowing people from anywhere to participate without the need for travel. Through farmer interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and interactive storytelling, these Virtual Farm Tour videos aim to make agriculture more accessible and educational for everyone.
