2025 Virtual Farm Tour Day 1
Virtual Farm Tour Day 1: Gabriella Plants
Florida is one of the top producers of ornamental plants in the U.S., with its nursery industry contributing over $20 billion to the state’s economy. Indoor plants, like those seen in the video, not only enhance home décor but also improve air quality and boost well-being!
What are the benefits of having houseplants?
Not only are houseplants excellent décor, but having houseplants in your home can also be good for you! Some houseplants are really good at filtering air, and improve overall indoor air quality. Studies also show that indoor plants can help to increase positive emotions and reduce stress. Just like with gardening, caring for houseplants has been shown to boost emotional wellbeing.
What makes a good houseplant?
With any plant, we want to make sure we are putting it in the right location. Right plant, right place goes a long way for the long-term plant health. When it comes to houseplants, there are a few things to consider like your space, lifestyle and commitment to plant care. Unless you have a window that gets a lot of daily sunlight, it is better to pick a plant that tolerates low to medium light. Some houseplants also prefer higher humidity conditions while others prefer drier air. Also consider how much time you have available to water them. If you can’t commit to weekly watering or any other special care requirements, select a houseplant that has lower maintenance needs. If you have pets, you should also go for pet-friendly plants as some houseplants can be toxic to pets if ingested.

2025 Virtual Farm Tour
The Seminole County Farm Tour has been a long held tradition, hosted for over 20 years. Over the years, the tour has been hosted in many different forms from self-driving to tour busses and even online. This year, we are hosting the tour for the second time in this virtual format. A virtual tour opens the doors for more folks, allowing people from anywhere to participate without the need for travel. Through farmer interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and interactive storytelling, these Virtual Farm Tour videos aim to make agriculture more accessible and educational for everyone.
