Annually, the Florida Farm Bureau hosts a statewide Youth Speech Contest. This contest begins at the county level and winners advance to district and state. This year youth ages 14-18 are asked to answer the prompt, “What are 3 major challenges that you feel Florida agriculture is facing?”
Due to the spread of COVID-19 and guidance from the CDC, this year’s speech contest will be done virtually. Youth have the opportunity to develop their five minute speech and submit a recording of themselves delivering their speech.
–Registration deadline May 6th by 5 PM
–Deadline for video submission: May 8th, 2020 by 6pm – An email with instruction on how to submit your speech video will be sent after registration.
–Prizes: First – $100, Second – $75, Third – $50
Requirements:
–Must be 14-18 years of age as of September 11, 2020
–The competitor must prepare and present the speech personally
–The competitor is not permitted to use any visual aids such as a PowerPoint presentation or poster.
–Speeches must be 5 minutes in length +/- 30 seconds
–Must reside in Seminole County.
This speech competition is a wonderful way for youth to gain an understanding of Florida agriculture and develop their communication skills.
