Do you have a large amount of food waste that ends up in the trash can? Feel like you should contribute less to the overall flood of waste headed to our landfills? Have you tried to compost before, but didn’t have much success? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then our “Introduction to Composting” class on Feb. 8 is for you.

Designed for residents interested in learning about or even experienced with backyard composting, this 90-minute workshop combines lectures and hands-on activities to teach the basics of home composting, building a personal compost system, and the benefits of composting. The class also provides information on food waste issues, and how our community is helping with the solution.

Join us to learn, and for a chance to win one of a select number of composting bins raffled off during the class.

This class also will be taught on March 7, April 4, and May 9. Register for any session through Eventbrite.com, or learn more by calling 941-861-9900 or emailing sarasota@ifas.ufl.edu.
