Gardening in Small Spaces

Living in a yard less apartment or home does not necessarily mean that you cannot have a little garden. Growing tasty herbs, tender baby greens, and even some root vegetables like radishes can be grown indoors via the exposure to a southern or western window. At our Cooperative Extension office, I have various lettuces, a carrot, radishes, a sunflower, and turnips growing in containers next to one of our southern facing windows. Additionally, I have a small aquaponic system with our Betta fish “Emmitt” growing basil.
