Peanut Butter Challenge 2024 – Spread the Word

Knock Knock.
Who’s there?
Peanut.
Peanut who?
Peanut, butter open the door!

We will begin the Peanut Butter Challenge in October, so please spread the news! The Peanut Butter Challenge runs from Monday, September 30 through October 31st and we are collecting donations of unopened jars of peanut butter in any size. You butter believe that we want to collect as much as possible because ALL the jars go to local food banks at the event’s conclusion.

I’d be nuts if I didn’t tell you that this event is hosted by UF/IFAS Extension and Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension. Peanut butter is quite the sufficient item in food pantries as it has a long shelf life, is jam packed with nutrients, and about 94% of American households consume peanut butter. And did you know that the Florida peanut industry contributed $119 million to the state economy and ranks third in the nation in peanut production? Here is a recipe for a great snack – Peanut Butter and Banana Pockets.

Why is this important?

Your donation doesn’t just fill a jar; it spreads hope and sticks to our mission of fighting hunger. Every jar of peanut butter you donate can help us butter up the lives of those in need, making their day a little less nutty and a lot more nutritious.

Please be compassionut and consider donating one, two, or more jars of peanut butter. We have several drop-off locations throughout Orange County to ensure that the donation process is a smooth one. In addition to our OFFICE, you can also visit these locations to drop off your peanut butter donation – there is nut’n butter than that. Please visit during regular business hours to ensure that the door is a jar.
