Service Project Tradition

It has become a special tradition for Orange County 4-H to donate and deliver poinsettias to local senior centers. Our customers have the option to designate all or part of their purchase to be used for that service project. In 2021, more than eighty plants were donated to four senior centers providing holiday cheer to the residents and staff. Funds raised from the sale support youth development efforts for both our 4-H clubs and county-wide 4-H program. Youth receive project support, scholarships to attend camp, special events or competitions as well as recognition for achievement.

4-H Youth Development Mission

The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach and caring adults to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens. In Orange County, kids can participate in 4-H through community clubs, after-school programs, summer camps and school enrichment programs. The 4-H Program is open to youth ages 5-18 and offers project work in a wide variety of subjects to spark a desire to learn and do and develop valuable life skills.

Orders can be placed either through a 4-H club member in your community or online through https://ocextension.eventbrite.com. You may also stop by the Extension office and place your order in person. The deadline to order is November 7th at 5:00 p.m.  For more information, please call us at 407-254-9222 or email orange4H@ifas.ufl.edu.
