Teaching Children to Save Winners

We are pleased to recognize the winners of the 2013 “Teaching Children to Save” project sponsored by Okaloosa Saves Coalition and UF/Okaloosa County Extension. This is one of many programs coordinated by the University of Florida/Okaloosa County Extension Office.

For “Teaching Children to Save,” parents and grandparents were encouraged to talk with their children about money and the importance of savings. Youth who participated set a savings goal and made a deposit into their savings account (which makes them Okaloosa Savers)!

In 2013, 122 youth in our community deposited $12,737.28 into savings accounts!! Since the program began in 2004, youth deposits have been $233,856.40! And Okaloosa Saves has given $5,700.00 in awards of savings bonds and deposits.

Once the entry forms are collected from participating financial institutions, winners are randomly drawn to receive $50 deposit for their Savings Account. The sponsors for this years awards are Okaloosa Saves, First City Bank, Eglin Federal Credit Union and Beach Community Bank.

Participating Financial institutions who promoted youth savings this year: Beach Community Bank, CCB Community, Eglin Federal Credit Union, First City Bank, First National Bank of Crestview and TrustMark Bank.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Okaloosa Saves 2013 Teaching Children to Save winners.
