Protecting Farmworker Health During Flu Season: English and Spanish Webinars for Extension Professionals and Clientele

As flu season begins, agricultural communities face unique challenges that make staying healthy especially difficult. Farmworkers often experience limited access to healthcare, language barriers, and working conditions that increase exposure risks. To address these concerns, the Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety (SCCAHS) is hosting two upcoming webinars designed to provide practical, culturally relevant strategies to support farmworker well‑being throughout flu season.

The first webinar, “Protecting Farmworker Health During Flu Season: Practical Strategies for Extension Outreach,” will take place on February 19 at 10 a.m. ET. This session is designed for Extension professionals, agricultural operators, community advocates, and others working directly with farmworker audiences.

The second webinar will deliver the same information entirely in Spanish. Titled “Protección de la salud de los trabajadores agrícolas durante la temporada de gripe: Estrategias prácticas para la extensión y divulgación,” it will also be held on February 19, at 1 p.m. ET.

Both sessions feature Nelly Nelson, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent with UF/IFAS Extension – Manatee County.
