GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Visitors to the LEGOLAND resort in Winter Haven, Florida, will enjoy discounted ticket prices Sept. 23 in support of Florida 4-H, the state’s premier youth development organization.
During 4-H Day at LEGOLAND, park tickets will be $35 — standard admission is nearly $80. Tickets are available to all Florida youth and their families, regardless of 4-H membership, and can be purchased online.
Over the last five years, 4-H Day at LEGOLAND has attracted hundreds of families, said Katie Morris, state 4-H resource development coordinator. “The discounted ticket price is just one incentive for these families,” she said. “Many come because they believe in the value of positive youth development and countless opportunities for youth ages five to 18 in 4-H.”
A portion of discounted ticket sales will support Florida 4-H programming throughout the state, said Michael Gutter, associate dean for Extension at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, which administers 4-H in the state.
“Approximately 200,000 youth participate in 4-H in Florida. The mission of 4-H is to give kids opportunities to gain life skills and introduce them to their passions, whether that be art, archery, engineering, animal sciences or public service. 4-H youth learn by doing, and these experiences help them develop the confidence to succeed as adults,” said Gutter, who is also the state program leader for 4-H Youth Development, Families and Communities at UF.
Families unfamiliar with 4-H are encouraged to come to LEGOLAND to learn more about the program. Interested youth and families can can also reach out to their local UF/IFAS Extension county office to find out about 4-H clubs and activities in their area.
