WASHINGTON, D.C.—Ashley Wood, director of IFAS Communication Services in the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), received the 2000 Honored Professional award from Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) during the student organization’s recent annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Presented at the U.S. Agricultural Communicators Congress, the award recognized Wood for his support of agricultural communication programs at UF and other universities across the nation where ACT has student chapters. ACT selects one outstanding professional for the award each year.
The award was presented to Wood by ACT President Brenda Schumann, an agricultural communications major at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
ACT is for college students who have a professional interest in the field of communications related to agriculture. The organization stimulates interest and promotes careers in agricultural communications, provides leadership experience to members and keeps them abreast of the developments in the field, recognizes and encourages professional excellence and growth in agricultural communications, and improves courses and programs related to agricultural communications by stimulating interaction among students, faculty members and professionals.
