Fall brings the fair and summer is all about camp, but what is 4-H up to in the spring? Check out some of our upcoming programs!
Embryology & Chicken Adoptions
Ms. Kelsey and her hard working volunteers will be in and out of numerous classrooms teaching about the science of chicken development and hatching. After chicks are hatched at the schools, they will be available for adoption to those interested in starting a chicken project or preparing for next year’s fair!
Fun Shops
County Council will be continuing their fun shop series with two events this spring. On January 24, they will be hosting a “Mad Scientist” workshop for youth ages 6-10 (to register, click here!) and during spring break, they will host a one-day Outdoor Survival skills camp.
County Events
It’s time to start practicing for County Events! This year’s competition will be held Friday, March 29. The program will include public speaking, share-the-fun, demonstrations, cooking, photography, and fashion revue. Events are open to all ages and we highly encourage all youth to participate in at least one competition. This is a great learning experience (and a fair point opportunity)!
4-H Day at the Capitol
This year’s 4-H Day at the Capitol will be Thursday, April 4. Held at the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee, this event is designed to encourage civic responsibility and develop youth voice. It brings together 4-H’ers from across the state and gives youth a chance to meet with their state representatives. Registration will be open February 1-28.
Hippology & Horse Shows
Join Ms. Kelsey this spring to prepare for the State Hippology competition on April 6. Then, get ready for the Area North Horse Show on Friday and Saturday May 10-11 in Clay County. For more details on how to get involved in our horse program, contact Ms. Kelsey. Don’t forget all paperwork for horse events is due by 12/31!
