2020-2021 4-H’er of the Year: Lauren Walters

Congratulations, Lauren for earning the 4-H’er of the Year award!
Lauren is a member of the County Council, Young Riders, and Hoofbeats Hippology. This past year she would not let COVID slow her down as she stayed active in her project mastery and leadership opportunities. Lauren completed multiple online horsemanship and hippology webinars, taught her peers, attended horse riding and judging clinics, helped lead the Love A Horse summer camp, and even challenged herself in the veterinary science camp. She competed at the State Hippology Contest (winning 1st individual and 1st place intermediate team), gave a blue winning demonstration and share the fun act at County Events qualifying her for District Events, earned blue awards for both her goat and horse record books, qualified at Area North, and showed at the State Horse Show in Tampa..and this is only just some of what she’s accomplished this year. Outside of 4-H Lauren has helped her community through multiple trash clean-ups, leading PE classes for homeschool groups, and being an overall wonderful young human. Lauren is always smiling and willing to help, learn, and lead. She is more than deserving of this award and we are all so proud of her!

“What do you think of when you think 4-H’er of the year? When I think of the 4-H’er of the year I think of someone who is involved in their clubs and community. I think of someone hard working with lots of self-motivation.This is what I want people to think of me.”
