Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE) is for plant lovers

Have you ever seen a beautiful landscape design and wonder, where do they purchase all those plants? Are they grown locally? and Where can I meet growers in South Florida?

If you live or visit South Florida, you are in luck! Here ornamental plants are in full bloom year round. These plants are propagated and grown in places called nurseries and Miami-Dade is the leading County in ornamental crop production in the entire state of Florida.

In January (while the rest of the country is covered in snow), there is a 3-day event showcasing the diversity of plants grown in South Florida. The Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE) is the perfect opportunity for local nursery growers to display the quality and inventory of plants they cultivate. At TPIE you can witness the most beautiful ferns, hibiscus, orchids, bromeliads, palms, tropical trees, succulents, you name it!

Up: Mr. Jason Lyden, from Farm Life Tropical Foliage Nursery told me that this year he is getting plant orders earlier. Down: Displays from nurseries, Capri Farms featuring: Meet Banana Bob

When you go to TPIE, growers will present the best of their plant nurseries and you can buy future plants for hotels, interiorscape or landscape projects, etc.

Up: Mr. Antoine de Vallois, from Florida Tuxedo Plants Nursery, teaching a client on foliage selection.

This blog includes photos I took at this year’s #TPIE18. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them during this annual plant show.

Left: Mr. Erik Tietig, from Pine Island Nursery, also buying from local orchid nurseries to bring home. Right: Enjoying United Nursery display featuring “Nursery Land” They are so creative!
