Free Trees! Arbor Day 2020

In celebration of Arbor Day and the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, the City of Bradenton has once again partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to provide free trees to residents of the city. 600 trees will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis to individuals that visit: arborday.org/Bradenton. during the month of March, 2020.

The City of Bradenton’s Tree and Landscape Preservation Board has funded the program to support individual efforts to increase the community canopy within the City of Bradenton. It is well known that trees provide a wide variety of benefits to the local environment including; temperature moderation, taming stormwater, increasing happiness and lessening the impacts of climate change. How to Order

Individuals will be able to enter their address, and receive information regarding ‘Right Tree, Right Place’ while selecting where in their yard they plan to plant their new trees. Each resident can receive up to two trees per location. Two options exist for receiving your trees once requested; through the mail or pick-up on April 18th 2020 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Tree Delivery Details: Residents can select one of the following trees in a 1 gallon size which will then be delivered to their address 3-5 weeks after selection. Each tree with come with planting and care instructions.

Bottlebrush (Callistemon spp.)

Little Gem Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora ‘little gem’)

Summer Red Maple (Acer rubrum)

Dura Heat Birch (Betula nigra ‘BTMNF’)

Pick-up Details: If an individual opts to pick up their tree/s they can do so at Manatee County Public Works 4410 66th St. W. Bradenton, FL (shell lot) on April 18th 2020 from 9 a.m. until noon. Trees available for pickup will be 3 gallon sized and of the following varieties:

Southern Magnolia D.D. Blanchard (Magnolia grandiflora ‘D.D. Blanchard’)

Regular Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica)

Live Oak (Quercus virginiana)

Simpson select Maple (Acer rubrum)

Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum)

Tropic Snow or Tropic Beauty Peach* (Prunus persica ‘Tropic Snow’ or ‘Tropic Beauty’)
